Prep For sunless Tanning

Exfoliate. Exfoliate. Exfoliate. We cannot stress the importance of pre-session exfoliation. 24 hours prior to your spray-tan, clear away any dry, dead skin cells with a pH balancing scrub.

  • Make sure any pedicure or manicure is done BEFORE your spray tan session.

Protect Your Skins’ pH Levels by avoid using bar soaps, high pH shower products, or in shower moisturizers. Avoid oil based products like Dove and Caress as these can clog your pores and prevent the solution from being absorbed into the skin.

Remove any make-up prior to the sunless application – Arrive Prepared.

Wear loose fitting dark colored clothing and remove jewelry. Tight clothing can rub or smear bronzers, especially around the knees, elbows, chest and waist.

Post Spray Instructions

You will want to avoid sweating or excercise for the first 6 hours. These could both result in undesired results while the tan develops.

It takes 6 hours for your spray tan to fully develop. Showering and using soap can inhibit a successful development.

For the next 7 days, we recommend no scrubbing of your skin or use of high PH soaps.

To extend and build color, between sessions us a daily application of Pro-Long™ or another color extending moisturizer to keep your tan beautiful and long lasting. The spray tan typically lasts 5 to 7 days.

Spray Tan FAQ's

A spray tan will last for 7-10 days on average. This will be determined on your aftercare.

Spray tans, like other sunless tanning products, contain a chemical called
dihydroxyacetone, commonly known as DHA. DHA is absorbed into your top layer of skin cells and causes a chemical reaction that makes them darken. This coloration process is completely harmless and DHA has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for external use. There are two types of spray tans you can choose from. You can buy spray tan bottles for self-application or you can go to a spray tan salon. In a spray tan salon, there is a special booth and the tanning solution is applied to your body in a fine mist. When it comes to do-it-yourself tanning, it can be very difficult to apply your tanning product evenly all over your body, especially in those hard-to-reach areas. Using spray tan salons can be helpful because you will have an experienced assistant to help you with the spray tan booth and make sure that your color is applied without leaving streaks, blotches or tan lines. Spray tan booths also provide you a natural golden tan with optional levels of color.
