uncommon for patients to require maintenance treatments once a year, even after the area has been fully treated. The reason: The laser targets and destroys your current hair follicles, but new follicles can develop thanks to hormonal changes or shifts in weight.
Does Laser Hair Removal Hurt?
Our laser system has a cooling handpiece so most individuals only feel the cooling
sensation as the energy is delivered. In sensitive areas, an individual may feel a warming energy but the feeling only lasts a few seconds and generally stops when the laser does. Larger areas of the body are more costly than smaller areas because they require more time and pulses to treat. The price is also affected by the number of sessions required to achieve the desired results. Certain areas on the body may take more treatments than others, as they may be more affected by hormonal changes.
Does Laser Hair Removal Work For Everyone?
Our laser hair removal system can treat almost every skin type-from very light-skinned people (or whats known as Type I on the Fitzpatrick scale, a skin-typing test) all the way up to Type V or even VI (which is dark skin) However the best results for laser hair removal involves hair with pigment. Light blond and grey hair are difficult to treat. This is because the laser targets the pigment in the hair follicle If your hair is light in colour, it will be more difficult for the laser to detect the pigment and effectively disable the hair follicle. This also applies to darker skin individuals, as the laser is at a lower setting so not to damage the skin because the laser is targeting pigment which dark skin has more of.
How do I prepare for laser hair removal?
The most important thing to do before your treatment is to stop waxing or plucking 3 weeks prior to your appointment. Shaving is ok and it is preferred the day prior to your appointment. The area should be free of lotions, creams, deodorant, and makeup. Also, for best results, you will want to make sure you are applying sunscreen or covering the area, when exposing the treatment area to the sun. This minimizes any hypersensitivity to your skin and fresh pigment which my cause hypopigmentation/hyperpigmentation.
